New York: Grammy-winning singer Coco Jones and NBA star Donovan Mitchell announced their engagement on Friday, sharing a video and photo of the tropical proposal on Instagram. The couple, who have been dating for two years, made the announcement while vacationing at a luxury destination, with NFL quarterback Russell Wilson credited for helping orchestrate the surprise.
The proposal took place by a pool in a coastal location, where Mitchell, 28, got down on one knee. Jones, 27, shared the moment with a kiss and a look at her diamond ring in the now-viral photo. The engagement comes after a busy year for both—the Cleveland Cavaliers guard wrapped a strong season, while Jones completed a sold-out tour.
“After an amazing season and a sold-out tour, Donovan Mitchell and Coco Jones took a moment to recharge on vacation, which turned into a beautiful engagement,” the couple said in a statement to People.

The engagement marks the first time Donovan Mitchell and Coco Jones have publicly confirmed their relationship, though they’ve long been subject to speculation. The couple reportedly met at Michael Rubin’s exclusive Fourth of July “White Party” in 2023 and kept their romance largely private.
In a March 2025 appearance on Club Shay Shay, Jones acknowledged the relationship when asked about the rumors:
“I love the internet because they definitely clocked my tea. Little spies everywhere. I’m happy and I will say, my music is my outlet where I tell my stories and my truth. Some things I keep for myself because this is my life, too.”
