New York: According to multiple NBA insiders, the New York Knicks are preparing to request permission to speak with Dallas Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd as they evaluate coaching options heading into the 2025–26 season. The move comes as Tom Thibodeau’s future remains uncertain following the Knicks’ playoff exit.

NBA reporter Marc Stein was first to report that Kidd would be on the Knicks’ shortlist if they officially part ways with Thibodeau. And according to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, “Kidd’s ears would perk up” if New York came calling.
